Program Description Provided by the Institution:

The Psychology Department at Eastern Michigan University offers graduate level training in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theory and psychotherapy.  This content is emphasized in broad courses on personality theory and psychotherapy.   Furthermore, there are numerous clinical supervisors in the department’s Psychology Clinic that supervise from an analytic or dynamic perspective.  There is no one favored school of analytic thought, though object relations, ego psychology, and self psychological models are prominent.  At present, there are three faculty members with analytic and/or dynamic training, and support for psychoanalytic and psychodynamic models is provided in the department.  Two faculty are actively involved in psychoanalytically informed research, and both have received funding from the American and International Psychoanalytic Associations.  One faculty member has published two texts on psychodynamic treatment.
